It is the mission of the New York State Office for the Aging to help all older New Yorkers to be as independent as possible for as long as possible, with an emphasis on hard-to-serve and diverse populations. NYSOFA fulfills this mission through advocacy, development, and delivery of person-centered, consumer-oriented, and cost-effective policies, programs, and services that support and empower older adults and their families, in partnership with a network of public and private state and community organizations.<\/p>\n

The New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) works with a network of 59 Area Agencies on Aging and over 1,200 community partners to provide New York’s 4.8 million older adults with a range of community-based services and supports.<\/p>\n
NYSOFA\u2019s overall goal is to help older adults age in their community and avoid higher levels of care.<\/p>\n

NYSOFA helps older New Yorkers be as independent as possible for as long as possible in their homes and communities of choice.<\/p>\n
NY’s 59 Area Agencies on Aging deliver services tailored to older adults, families and caregivers, providing a just-right level of support to empower successful aging in the community.<\/p>\n
NYS aging services case managers are the most highly trained professionals in the nation. They must complete a 20-hour certification course and pass an exam proving competency in core service areas.<\/p>\n
