About Sam Ash

Founded by violinist Sam Ash in Brooklyn, New York, Sam Ash Music has been serving musicians since 1924. While initially focused on band and orchestral instruments, by the 1960s,  under the leadership of Sam’s sons Jerry and Paul Ash, the product offering expanded to include electric guitars, amplifiers, drum sets, and early electric pianos. Around this time, Sam Ash opened a location in neighboring Manhattan, eventually occupying several storefronts on the legendary 48th Street, Music Row. As Sam Ash continued to expand across the tri-state area, it also became a large supplier of professional sound equipment for both live performance and studio recording. During the 1990s and early 2000s, under the direction of Sam’s grandsons, David, Richard, and Sammy Ash, the brand gained national prominence with Sam Ash Megastores operating throughout the United States.  The company would also start the samash.com website, building a large warehouse in Tampa, FL. In the 2010s, a second warehouse would be added at the companies longtime corporate headquarters in Long Island, New York. During this time, in an effort to bring the legendary Sam Ash personal service to the online shopping expierence, the Sam Ash Gear Guidance program was launched.
